    The Virginia Museum of the Civil War and Home Educators Association of Virginia are pleased to present Homeschool Day 2018 at the Virginia Museum of the Civil War on Saturday, March 24, 2018. Enjoy hands-on learning about our greatest national drama-- the Civil War. Join the army and learn to drill, try dancing the Virginia Reel, have fun with 19th century games and crafts, watch the Emmy-award winning film, Field of Lost Shoes, take a guided tour through the battlefield, learn 19th-century cooking techniques, and much more. Visit displays from local history and ecology organizations. Bring a lunch or visit our on-site food vendor. Visit the General’s Store for a great selection of books and souvenirs. Have fun for the day and make memories for a lifetime. Registration opens on January 29, 2018. Limited space is available so register early.     A signature program of Virginia Foundation for the Humanities (VFH) and the Virginia Center for the Book, the Virginia Festival of the Book brings readers and writers together for a five-day program of mostly free events including author readings, book signings, panel discussions, programs for children, and more. The 24th annual Festival will be held March 21-25, 2018, in Charlottesville and Albemarle County, Virginia. The Festival has consistently attracted audiences of more than 20,000 from more than forty states each year, with an estimated local economic impact of about $4 million annually.
