Speaking Appearances
WVPT—Virginia’s Public Television proudly presents nationally renowned antique appraiser Ken Farmer for two speaking appearances in Harrisonburg. Mr. Farmer has been a guest appraiser on the popular PBS series ANTIQUES ROADSHOW and is the owner of Ken Farmer Auctions and Appraisals LLC, located in Radford, Virginia. Mr. Farmer will entertain with behind-the-scenes stories of his experiences on ANTIQUES ROADSHOW and will appraise 25 selected items, similar to the way they are on the PBS series.
Ticket Information
Single tickets for these exciting presentations are $25 or two tickets for $40. Tickets can be purchased at WVPT (298 Port Republic Road, Harrisonburg), Factory Antique Mall (50 Lodge Lane, Verona), by calling (800) 345-9878 or by using the shopping cart above. Free Appraisals
If you are interested in having one of your belongings appraised free-of-charge by Mr. Farmer, simply fill out the form located at wvpt.net and mail the form and a photo of your item to WVPT. The form and the photo must be received by WVPT no later than 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2007. From the forms and photos submitted, Mr. Farmer will select a variety of 25 items to appraise during each of his presentations on November 17. If your item is one of the 50 he selects, WVPT will contact you. You must purchase a ticket to the event in order to have your item appraised. On November 17, Mr. Farmer will ask you about your item and discuss price, the market and more. You will be responsible for transporting your item to Court Square Theater on November 17, along with any set-up required for the appraisal. WVPT does not assume any responsibility for damage or loss of items to be appraised.

From points East:
Travel US-33 West to the center of town. Cross Mason Street. There is a gas station on your left and two banks at this intersection.
At second stoplight after crossing Mason Street, you will see the Court House in front of you. Turn right onto US-11 N / US-33 W.
Get into the left-hand lane and make an immediate left turn onto Court Square.
Stay straight onto Graham Street. The First Presbyterian Church is on your right.
End at 61 Graham Street.
From points West:
Travel US-33 East to the center of town. Cross Rt. 42 (Virginia Avenue). At this intersection, Otterbein United Methodist Church will be on your left.
Go straight through one stoplight. At the next intersection, you will see the Court House in front of you. Turn right onto US-33 E/Court Square.
At the stoplight, turn left onto US-11 N/US-33 E/S. Main Street.
Go through one stoplight. Get into the left-hand lane and make an immediate left turn onto Court Square. Stay straight onto Graham Street. The First Presbyterian Church is on your right. End at 61 Graham Street.
From points South:
Travel north on US-11/South Main Street to the center of town. When you are near the center of town, you will see the Massanutten Regional Library on your right. Get into the left-hand lane. At the second light after passing the library, South Main Street becomes US-11 N/US-33 W. Go straight through this stoplight. You will see the Court House on your left. Go through the light in front of the Court House. Make an immediate left turn onto Court Square. Stay straight onto Graham Street. The First Presbyterian Church will be on your right. End at 61 Graham Street.
From points North:
Travel south on US-11/N. Main Street. You will pass a parking deck on your right. One block beyond the parking deck, turn right onto US-11 N/US-33W. You will see the Court House in front of you. At the stoplight in front of the Court House, turn right onto US-11 N/US-33 E. Get into the left-hand lane. Make an immediate left turn onto Court Square. Stay straight to go onto Graham Street. The First Presbyterian Church will be on your right. End at 61 Graham Street.
Ken Farmer Bio
Kenneth W. Farmer, Jr. is the owner of Ken Farmer Auctions and Appraisals, LLC based in Radford, Virginia. His specialties include the appraisal and selling of American furniture and folk art, and the sales of fine art and decorative art. Ken Farmer Auctions and Appraisals, LLC also offers multi-parcel real estate auctions of historic homes, acreage, and commercial and recreational properties in partnership with Woltz & Associates in Roanoke, Virginia.
Mr. Farmer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory and Henry College and has done post graduate work at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Since 1975, he has been self-employed first as an antiques dealer specializing in Southern furniture and folk art, and later concentrating on appraisals and consulting to collectors and institutions.
He became a licensed auctioneer in 1981 and a Virginia Real Estate Broker in 1987. He was the owner of Ken Farmer Realty and Auctions from 1987 to 1995, which concentrated on public estate auctions and private treaty real estate brokerage. In 1995, Mr. Farmer formed Ken Farmer Auctions and Appraisals in order to focus on the auction sale of antiques and real estate. Sales are conducted from the gallery in Radford, Virginia, and off-site under tents or at rented facilities. The company has set several national records for selling both American and English antiques at auction.
Since 1995, Mr. Farmer has served as a guest appraiser on the PBS television series ANTIQUES ROADSHOW and has also appeared on the OPRAH WINFREY SHOW as an appraiser. He lectures frequently about antiques, auctions and collecting for both public and private institutions throughout the United States. He is also a member of the Certified Auctioneer’s Institute, the Virginia Auctioneer’s Association, the Appraiser’s Association of America and the National Auctioneer’s Association. Mr. Farmer consults with collectors, museums and institutions regarding the appraisal, sale and purchase of antiques and fine art.
