WVPT's Cat in The Hat Visits Hooville

Charlottesville Mayor Norris will read the proclamation at the beginning of our "Cat in The Hat Visits Hooville" event during the Virginia Festival of the Book.  The event is Saturday, March 19th at 9:30 am and begins outside the Omni Hotel.

This event is very similar to last year's Sesame Street 40th Anniversary Celebration.  WVPT partners with The Virginia Festival of the Book, The Paramount Theater, The Virginia Discovery Museum, and the Jefferson-Madison Regional library to make this an exciting morning for our youngest viewers/readers.  The Sesame Street 40th Anniversary Celebration was a great success with over 900 parents, kids, and strollers participating.

WVPT started  broadcasting a new television children's series, "The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That" last fall.   In celebration of this fabulous new science series, WVPT is having another parade from the Omni Hotel to the Paramount Theater.  The Parade will be in honor of The Cat in the Hat's visit to Hooville.  We will have a "The Cat in the Hat" costume character present, and the WVPT mascot, Cubby The Bear, will also be there.  The Jefferson-Madison Regional Library will have a library card drive.  The Discovery Museum and Jefferson-Madison Regional Library will have Cat in The Hat activities all week leading up to the event.  At the Paramount WVPT will show one or two episodes of "The Hat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That."

The event is sponsored by Virginia National Bank and CenturyLink.

WVPT will give away 250 free Cat in the Hat books and Cat in the Hat hats will be available for purchase.
