    At 2:00pm, line the streets to honor the veterans who have proudly served our country during war and peacetime. The Veterans Parade will begin at the Rockingham County Administration Center, 20 East Gay Street, and will travel South on Main Street to City Hall, 345 South Main Street. Entry Form for parade entries: Free for attendees. $25 for commercial and individual entries. Non-profit and government entities exempt from this fee.

    “It is a damp and dreary night. The ground is muddy with puddles of water everywhere. It is Sunday May 15, 1864, the evening after the Battle of New Market. The sights, sounds, and smells of the battlefield are all around you when suddenly....” Travel back in time and walk in the footsteps of Union and Confederate soldiers and the Bushong family on the New Market Battlefield. Experience the tales of the Virginia Military Institute Cadets as they recount their historic involvement in that day’s battle. Join our costumed interpreters for our only nighttime tour by lantern light and discover the spirit and character of all those involved in the Battle of New Market. This program is designed to be family-friendly and perfect for kids of all ages. Tickets: $10.00 adults; $5.00 youth 6 to 17 years; 5 years old and under, free. Tickets may be purchased at the Virginia Museum of the Civil War on the day of the event.
